I’m running for re-election because I believe in this state, I believe in this district, and I know we can, and must, do better. I hope to earn your trust and support.

Legislative Accomplishments

Cut Taxes for Retirees

Repealed taxes for retirees. An estimated 500,000 Michiganders will benefit from the retirement income exemption, with an average savings of $1,000.

Restored Workers’ Rights

Strengthened protections for unions and restored prevailing wage laws. We passed legislation that reinstates Michigan workers’ long-held freedom to speak up together with one voice in the workplace, promoting better working conditions, higher wages, and safer workplaces.

Historic Investments in Our Kids

Made historic increases in funding for schools. Providing a 5% increase in per-pupil funding for a total of $9,608 per pupil — the highest level in history — to support our kids as the future of our state. Moreover, we have expanded access to free Pre-K education by creating an additional 5,600 slots., saving families $10,000 a year, and providing more Michigan children the opportunity to develop social and academic skills.

Saved Michiganders’ Money

The Working Families Tax Credit has been significantly increased, making it the most substantial tax relief effort Michigan has witnessed in decades. This expansion will assist 700,000 Michiganders who struggle to afford the basics, enabling them to save an average of $3,150 annually.

Invested in Public Safety

Passed common sense gun violence prevention laws that strengthen background checks, require the secure storage of firearms where children are present, and allow for the temporary removal of firearms from people who pose a significant risk to themselves or others.

Water Infrastructure Investments

Secured $600 million for statewide water infrastructure projects, replacing lead service lines, rebuilding sewers, and more.

Protected Personal Rights & Freedoms

Expanded the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to protect our LGBTQ+ neighbors from discrimination. These protections will protect in employment, housing, education, and access to public accommodations.

Defended Your Freedoms

The Democratic Majority repealed the outdated 1931 abortion ban in Michigan, following the overwhelming support for Proposal 3. This move guarantees that individuals in Michigan have the freedom to make choices about their bodies and lives.

Additional Housing

Invested $50 million in the state’s Housing and Community Development Fund. This substantial investment prioritizes projects for safe, affordable housing for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and working families.
